The videos shows a glimpse into what the process of setting commercial halibut fishing gear can look like. It can look very different depending on the boat and operation but the idea is pretty much the same. A buoy and buoy line is set first followed by an anchor and then a series of hooks with bait on them that settle at the bottom of the sea bed. If the halibut are in the area they’ll be attracted by the bait, bite and our hooks will be ready for them. At the end of the set another anchor is set with more buoy line connected to a buoy to mark the end of a set. It can be a very dangerous process but this set came out very smoothly!
