Fly Fishing Techniques – Late Winter / Pre-Runoff – Nymphing & Streamer Fishing – Reading Water and Techniques

Fly fishing in March / April on the North Fork Coeur d’Alene and St. Joe Rivers can be some great fishing if you know what to look for and how to fish them. In this 2 part series we cover some basics for “pre-runoff” fly fishing on these North Idaho streams when walk & wade fishing.

The topics that I discuss in this video include:
– walk/wade fishing back eddies with nymphs/streamers
– fishing “soft” water along the bank
– casting tip for dealing with steep/brushy banks.

When water levels go up in the spring, don’t let walk/wade fishing these rivers scare you. Most of the time the fish are tight to the bank and you don’t even have to get in the water.
