There are a lot of hook patterns out there – here is a video for those guys that are just starting out – common hook patterns and how to tie them on your line..
When I was first starting out, it was quite hard to look for someone to teach me how to tie the hooks on – so I really know the struggle. I made this video for those that are still having a hard time knowing which knot to tie on which hook – hopefully, this video helps you out.
Index:
00:21 – Snell knot for upturned or downturned eyes
02:11 – Multi use knot – Figure 8 or Figure of 8 knot can be used for wire with no kinks!
03:32 – Uni Knot Snell – easy and strong, tied on a circle hook, take note the line passes through the bottom of the hook very important to help the hook find its mark!
05:31 – Unit Knot Loop – this knot is especially effective when tied on lures and hooks for live bait
07:46 – no knot snell – works with wire and great on treble hooks – this is quick and easy especially when on a boat or kayak
8:56 – clinch knot – one of the easiest to learn and master – the clinch knot is the best knot to teach a child as his or her first knot. Great for most hooks and swivels.
11:05 – Snell for spade head hooks – sometimes, we find spade head hooks – hooks without eyes – a snell of any kind is the best way to tie them on – make sure the leader line is on the gap side of the hook when you are done – this gives it a better hook up rate!
